Abstract

The Most Suitable Appliance for Effective Treatment

Effectiveness and efficiency are often terms that are used incorrectly, creating confusion in the evaluation of the real efficiency of a therapy. In the field of orthodontic appliances and in particular among aesthetic ones, it is necessary to clarify the concept of how more or less suitable an appliance is in treating a specific malocclusion. By carefully evaluating the biomechanical needs that the treatment requires and examining the diagnosis of the case and the multiple characteristics of the malocclusion, the authors want to underline when it is more correct to choose the most appropriate appliance in certain cases rather than in others in order to undertake a therapy that not only gives an excellent result but gives it in an adequate time, requiring only the right collaboration from the patient. Cases treated with aesthetic techniques such as lingual therapy and aligners will be shown, justifying why one was chosen over the other. Particular importance will be given to the diagnosis of each case
